Day 18: Promotion
Vanessa: So, when you worked in Columbia, you weren’t doing this position,
right?
Lauren: No, I worked at the front desk, which was mainly just checking people in
and out, taking reservations over the phone or in person. But, this was a big
promotion for me and I’m glad to be here.
Vocabulary:
A position: the job responsibilities that you have at a company
To check someone in and out: the person who works in a hotel looks at the
computer for the customer’s reservation, gives them the key, and then takes the
key when they leave
A promotion: a better job; usually a higher salary
